Home The Buzzard's Nest
The LT-40 assembles quick and easy. The construction is excellent. The airplane is built from balsa and light ply and covered with Ultracote. Most of the assembly was done by my daughter except for the engine installation. This airplane is well within the realm of any beginers skill. Everything you need is in the kit. None of the graphics are applied which in my opinion is a plus it allows the builder to do his or her own trim scheme.
The manual is well thought out and easy to follow with lots of pictures.
I've been a club insturctor for about 14 years and in that time I've flown alot of trainers some good some bad. I have to say without a doubt that this airplane is one of the best trainers I've ever flown. The first flight was on a day with a strong crosswind I think Jessica was a little nervous. "Are you sure about this dad"? The LT-40 handeled it beautifully, more than I can say for Jessica, she decided to stop for the day when on approach to the first landing the airplane was crabbing at about a 30 degree yaw.
We have been flying the LT-40 for three season now with no problems at all. It flys great slow or fast and is very forgiving. It lands beautifully and handles the wind very well. I would highly recommend the LT-40 as anyones first airplane. It's big and easy to see and only requires a 40 size 2 cycle for outstanding trainer performace.
My daughter Jessica is doing very well with her flying. She makes the most beautiful straight scale like takeoffs and really has the touch. She has in fact become the first female to pass the pilot proficiency test of The New Hampshire Flying Tigers. Can you tell I'm proud of her?
